It's only about the time



my next chance to let the light get through lenses and burn my camera censor to make a picture is on 27/11. That scene is takes place at Muaro Panjalinan , Padang West Sumatra. The location is not too far away from my home, so it only needs at least 5 minutes by riding motorcycles.
The seashore on this beach is commonly similar like another. However, in this place is one of the most active fisherman to set sail toward the sea. I come to this place is too early, there are no fisherman would like to go to the sea by using boat. I decided to take some picture of Water-scapes.


However, I does not satisfied enough for the result. in my opinion, my picture is too flat, and it only have two dimension; i cannot figure out where is the foreground.
Suddenly, i hear the sound of children whose play around on the seashore. Then I unmounted my camera that have Canon 18-55 MM F.5.6 lenses from the tripod. I tried to capture every moment when they enjoy that afternoon.


The day becomes dark, I decided to went home and review my photograph in that day. However, in my step to going home, i found a moment where the sky becomes red, there is tree above formation of rock that hides the sun beam. I mount my tripod with camera, i tried to capture the moment.


In that time, i think it is enough for me due to i have a picture that i looking for.
I take another step to home, i saw a canoe on the sea shore. I felt strange, how could in this place the canoe is abandoned. thus, i take the picture,with the sky that starting to let its dark side come out to my city.

The Story toward Shillouete

This is my another chance that God give to me for capture Water-Scapes photography. I admit it that in this branch of photograph i find one of my passion. on that day 26/11 i went to Nirwana Beach that considered by government as one of recreation site in Padang city. I started to have my trip there at 3 PM and at least 25 Minutes i am already enjoy the view of bay that have variation rock formations.
I still brought my camera due to my purpose on photography, share the story on my sight to every people around the world. The equipment that I use is still my camera, a tripod and Canon 18-55 MM F 5.6 as the lenses. I know it is not enough for landscape photographer, however i tried to make it optimal, till i have something better.
As the recommendation from people who already there, the precise place to take a great photograph I should take a 30 minutes walk through the bush near sea shore. they said that there are shipwreck, and formation of mangrove seed that would like make my Water- scape photograph have three dimensions.
In that day, the sky is clear, the reflection of harsh light from the sun disturb my sight to compose a dimension in my capture. my friend who went with me there at the time, tries to capture some moment below the sun.


as time goes by at least for a single hour, i saw the cloud turned to red due to the sun is going to set it place to another side of earth. based on the picture that i took before, I have got the idea to capture silhouette. i still cannot find the shipwreck. so i decided to capture some young mangrove tree silhouette.



 as the result, my captured picture is not good enough. the picture just have creepy atmosphere, in that moment, I would like to take a picture that have story inside of it. in my mind, the story that the picture tell is very little.
Then, i tried to find the shipwreck, and finally I find it, then i tried to create some story about the reason the traditional ship or may be considered as cano is abandoned by  the owner. Then I let the big scale ship that appear in the firmament take a part on my picture.



Then my picture can tell some story that needs you to interpret it. just tell me what my pictures talking about.

The Drought is also My Friend


This is my second experience to take waterscape photograph. me and my friend decided to go to north out of Padang City. In our mind, we would like to capture a sea shore waterscape that have construction materials on it. I am very curious at the time to find that place.
At 3 pm we started the trip to the spot. in 30 minutes, i began to find the sand filled on my sandals, the sunlight become harsh, the reflection of light blinded my due to it glare. however, the pine forest on the seashore help me to reduce it. yes, we are already on the spot.
my passion to take photograph cannot hold anymore, however the sunlight is very harsh, and my equipment is not complete as a landscaper. it means, i cannot take a good dramatic waterscape photograph.
I took my time for walking around that only left at least one-half hour before golden hour. then, God helps me again by letting my eye to see the greatness of His creature that formed as pine forest. there is single pine tree on left side and three pine trees on another side on my side that separated by large space between them. at that time, i saw the sun light go through the pine canopy. it formed like a star when i tried to see it through my camera's viewfinder.
I let my camera mounted on my tripod, and let my camera captured the moment by press the shutter button. the exposure that i set on my camera is
F 22|1/200 sec|ISO-100|18 mm.
 


then, i find the sunlight become soft, i started to run to the sea shore to take some pillars that somebody planted it on the sea. I find an yellow colored coconut, i started to capture the moment. the exposure that i use is F 22|1.6 sec|ISO 100|18 mm.

Before i go home, i see giant pipes that arranged neatly near the sea shore. i think this is also a good chance to have my first picture that have frame on it. i use similar exposure just like before.

Fake Fireworks effect for waterscape photography



It was night at 13/11 is my first time to take waterscape photography. Me and my friends are decided to make Gaung in Padang City, West Sumatra as the spot to take some photographs. There is dock in front of i take the picture.

The activity was began at 4 pm and ended at 8pm in my regional time. The giant ship near firmament is my first point of interest at my first sight.

I did not satisfied enough, so I tried to find another object to make my first waterscape photography have three dimensions; foreground,object and background. Thus, i make a rocks as my point interest and leave the giant ship. however I felt my photograph have no something special on it.

 Then i was thinking, there is something wrong on my spot besides the day is started let the sun go down to firmament.
Then accidentally,  when my camera still capture the moment, i lift it to another angle, i realize, it in the exposure time, then i return it to proper place. i surprised for the result.

For an hour later, after i take some break, due to i cannot have special picture on that my first day. This inspirational accident is appear. oh thanks god, you give me a special idea one more time. I see my friend, turn his lenses forward and backward in exposure time. he does not know what he doing at the time. the picture that he got is the light from the dock formed like a fire work. However, his picture is not sharp enough. then i was thinking how to make the picture is sharp enough besides my picture also have firework effect. I only use Canon 18-55mm|3.5 kit, and of course a tripod. i realize that it is not good enough to make great waterscape picture. then, i decided to take focal length 18 mm and started to find some focus by using manual focus on it. After my eye says the picture on my viewfinder is sharp enough, I turned my focal length to 55 mm and in this moment, the picture is very blurred. just let it be like that. then i calculate the exposure as the result, my exposure that i decided such as: F13/30sec/ISO160. On shooting type, i uses timer: i does not have remote shutter. Then, when my camera sensor is burning on the exposure time, i turn the focal length that already on 55 mm ; the picture is blurred to 18 mm; the picture is sharp, slowly. then just left the rest to my camera.
and for the result, i does not disappointed my waterscape photograph have fireworks effect and it also sharp enough.

However, the complexity of the elements make this play become one of Minangkabau cultural heritage in present time. This play offers the beauty of traditional dance that adopted from Minangkabau Martial Arts; Silek, traditional music of minangkabau, and unpredictable plot story of drama. the script story of Randai is come from old tales in minangkabau that called as Tambo.

In present time, Randai is starting to be ruined by time. However, some young generation are trying to perform it in order to save one of cultural heritage. The story that they adapt to this play is Cindua Mato. Here are some pictures that taken before they perform on the stage.
